We are excited to announce our dance clinic this summer. The Summer Dance Clinic will be July 19-23 and July 26-30. It is open to any student interested in trying out for our competitive Dance Company teams for the upcoming 2010-2011 year. Tryouts will be held Saturday July 31st.
Each student has the choice of which area of dance (Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Lyrical, or Contemporary) they would like to compete in, and then they attend the clinic to learn combinations and dance elements for tryouts. A student may do one or all areas of dance, depending on their level of interest and commitment. The tryouts will have out-of-town judges, so there will be no risk of favoritism towards any of the students.
The Company teams chosen will attend as many competitions as money and time allow. We have had wonderful Company Teams this year, and our Studio has been honored to be named in the Top 20 Competative Dance Studios in the US two years running. This year we attended 2 Regional competitions in Little Rock and 1 Regional competition in Hot Springs. We also attended a National Showbiz competition in Kansas City, KS. Exact competitions to be attended and dates will be announced at a later time.

Each student that attends our clinic will learn dance combinations for every area of dance that they have chosen. They will perform these combinations at the tryouts on July 31st and any additional dance elements the instructors feel will demonstrate their level of skill. Students will be very busy and learn a lot in a small amount of time. We are looking for those students who really love to dance and perform!
We fully understand that many of you will be gone periodically this summer for vacations, camps, etc. Absences will be acceptable during the clinic, but please attend when you can, and make up for absences with extra hard work! If you will not be able to attend the tryout day, please let us know, and you will do a tryout by video. The fee for the Summer Clinic is $230, and will not be pro-rated for any reason, even if you have to do a video tryout!!!
In order to be able to participate in any jazz, lyrical, contemporary or modern routines (including solos) you MUST attend at least 2 Ballet and/or Technique classes per week!! If you cannot attend during the week, we will have a make-up class on Saturdays and possibly Sundays. Please keep this in mind when considering what types of dance you would like to participate in! Ballet and Technique class times will be announced with the Fall Schedule.

"Skills Lists" will be handed out during clinic. Each age group and discipline of dance will have specific skills that they are required to master in order to be considered for certain routines. If you cannot do all skills for the type of dance you wish to be in, then you WILL NOT be put in that dance! Also, expect to be given a "Terminology Test" during clinic, on which you must make a good score! We will give you study guides on the first day of clinic, but you have to take this test seriously! Don't worry, the teachers will be letting you know what they want you to do during clinic, but you will need to do a little studying!
